The film was supposed to start at 8:30 pm, but didn't until 9:15 pm, as we had the mother of all security checks beforehand. You had to hand over your phone, like at a cloak room, and you were given a raffle ticket to claim it back after the movie. We also got the metal detector as well. I was pleasantly surprised. I won't give away any spoilers (and if you know any, I MAY confirm them!), but I thought it was a good movie, enough to get it on DVD when it comes out. The Man Himself. He was great. The Q&A went for a while (it was after midnight when the autographs started), and the questions that people asked were very thought provoking - there was very little in the nerdiness department, which was nice to see for a change. Luckily when we got our tickets, being in row E, we were the 5th row in line. I'd hate to have been the poor sods up the back, because it seemed like ages until we got our autographs done. It was getting very late (around 1am) when we finally got to Joss. I asked him if he would ever do the "Dance of Joy" again, and he said "NEVER!!". So I got my Smile Time Angel signed, and Kerry got an A5 movie poster card of Serenity (that they were handing out - it seemed not many people knew he was signing that night, because a few people left right after the Q&A). I climbed into bed at 1:30am, then the alarm went off at 6:30am. Was it worth behaving like a zombie the next day? Absolutely! The cinema was packed, and it gave me some food for thought about future fannish ventures. An incredible night. PS: Apparently Joss didn't stop signing until 2:30am, and they couldn't remember where the car was parked. So Joss was lost in Glen Waverley Wednesday morning! Peter J. |
