William Shatner, star of Boston Legal, was taken to a hospital from the set of the series today after complaining of lower back pain.

Filming had finished for the day when the problem occured, series publicist Stacey Luchs said. Shatner, 74, was being checked out at a nearby hospital.

The actor, who played Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series, received an Emmy Award last month for his portrayal of lawyer Denny Crane on the series.
