A second X-Files movie is still a possibility, with Frank Spotnitz signed on for the screenplay. He was a producer and writer on the TV series. David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter all have deals in place, with 20th Century Fox the sticking point on legal issues. The script hasn't been written, but the story is set. It will be along the lines of one of the stand-alone episodes rather than alien conspiracy.
