The TV show's producers have been trying to get a Stargate SG-1 movie off the ground for a while now, and it finally looks like it will be happening. It will not necessarily signal the end of the SG-1 series, although the economics of having a show go for so long make it unlikely it will continue for much longer without further major cast changes. The movie will also introduce a new spin-off series, although there's no details available yet on that.
