Patrick Stewart is starring in a new UK science-based four-part thriller called Eleventh Hour.

It is set in the present day, and Stewart will play Professor Alan Hood, called in by the government to tackle disasters caused by modern science.

There has been rumblings that it is ITV's answer to BBC1's Doctor Who, but Stewart insists it's not. "It is about science, but it is not science-fiction," he said. "There is no resemblance to Doctor Who."
